Post-Construction Traffic Management

Traffic Monitoring and Improvements

The City is continuing the monitor the effects of the Coast Meridian Overpass on area traffic, and is working to address emerging issues as funding permits.

The following improvements were approved by the Transportation Solutions & Operations Committee of Council in June 2010, for implementation in 2010:
  • Extension of the westbound right-turn lane from Lougheed Highway onto the Lougheed Meridian Connector, and improvements to the Tim Hortons signal.
  • Crosswalk improvements on Coast Meridian Road at Coquitlam, Dorset, Patricia, Apel and Greenmount Avenues.
  • Parking restrictions on Coast Meridian Road between Salisbury Avenue and 50 metres north of Lincoln Avenue.
  • The opening of the swing gate in the lane west of Coast Meridian Road north of Angelo Avenue for a trial period of three months.
  • Installation of an advance left-turn phase for southbound Coast Meridian Road to eastbound Laurier Avenue.
Improvements under consideration for 2011, dependent on funding, include:
  • Construction of an additional southbound lane on Coast Meridian Road at Prairie Avenue, and
  • Installation of a full traffic signal at Coast Meridian Road and Salisbury Avenue.
