Royal Party Selection
What is the May Day Royal Party?
The May Day Royal Party is a group of Port Coquitlam children who represent their community during the annual May Day Celebrations. The Royal Party is made up of Flower Girls, Princesses and Lancers (similar to a knight).
The Royal Party is presented at the Opening Ceremonies during which they perform specially choreographed dances. In addition to participating in the May Day Opening Ceremonies, members of the Royal Party also ride on or accompany the City’s float during the May Day Grande Parade, and attend a reception in their honour.
Each year, at a Selection Tea held in April, a May Queen and Ambassador are randomly selected from among the Princesses and Lancers.
