PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY given to the electors of the City of Port Coquitlam that an election by voting is necessary to elect a Mayor, six Councillors and two School Trustees for a three-year term commencing December, 2011. Special Voting Opportunity

A Special Voting Opportunity will be open at Hawthorne Care Centre from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Only those qualified electors who are patients or staff of Hawthorne Care Centre at the time of voting may vote at this Special Voting Opportunity.

Elector Registration (for voting day registration only)

To register as a resident elector on Voting Day, you must have two pieces of ID, (one with a signature) and you will be required to make a declaration that you meet the following requirements:

· You are 18 years of age;

· You are a Canadian citizen;

· You have been a resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately preceding the day of registration;

· You have been a resident of the City of Port Coquitlam for at least 30 days immediately preceding the day of registration; and

· You are not otherwise disqualified by law from voting.

NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY ELECTORS:

· age 18 or older; and

· a Canadian citizen; and

· a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and

· a registered owner of real property in the City of Port Coquitlam for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and

· not entitled to register as a resident elector; and

· not disqualified by any enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law; and

· if there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector; and

· by producing proof of entitlement to register such as a recent Certificate of Title.

IF YOU QUALIFY AS A NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY ELECTOR YOU MAY REGISTER IN ADVANCE OR AT THE TIME OF VOTING.
