COUNCILLOR DEAN WASHINGTON
Dean Washington has lived all but a few of his 46 years in Port Coquitlam. He and his wife Brenda have been married for 24 years and have raised their three daughters Megan, Riley and Courtney in Port Coquitlam. For the past 20 years, Dean has owned and operated a local publishing company that produces automotive enthusiast magazines that are distributed across Canada.
Dean’s hobbies include playing the drums, golfing and distance running. He has completed several 21.1 km half marathons as well as the 42.2 km European Marathon in 2009 raising $7000 in support of the Arthritis Foundation.
He is proud to serve as volunteer chairperson and lead organizer of the Downtown PoCo Car Show, one of the city`s largest event. As one of the co-founders seven years ago, he’s enjoyed watching the event grow from a parking lot show to the extravaganza it is today sporting over 500 cars and 50,000 spectators on the streets of downtown Port Coquitlam.
Dean has been involved in lacrosse since the age of seven. At fourteen he began coaching and currently is one of the coaches of the Female Junior team on which two of his daughters play. He has also been on the executive of Poco Minor Lacrosse Association for the past three years serving the first two as the Head Coach and most recently, as the Head of Promotions for the Association.
