| Role of City Council City Council is comprised of the Mayor and six Councillors. All members of Council hold office for three-year terms. The Mayor chairs meetings of Council and is an ex-officio member of all Council Committees and all bodies to which Council has the right to appoint members. Council also contains seven special committees: Finance and Intergovernmental , Community Safety Committee, Environmental Enhancement Committee, Healthy Community Committee, Smart Growth Committee, Social Inclusion Committee, Transportation Solutions & Operations Committee. City Council holds two regular meetings each month (excluding August). Meetings are open to the public and agendas are available from City Hall or by clicking here .
