In 2002, the City started the process of developing a youth activity park to address the needs of youth to have a safe, fun and prominent location to call their own. The first step was for the City to engage the community in selecting the site location. The next phase was to design the park and again the City turned to the community to provide input. Now the park is nearing completion and once again, the City has worked with members of the community to gain their input and insight into what the program and operation of the park will look like.
A Youth Park Steering Committee worked with youth services staff from the Parks and Recreation Department to address all aspects of park operation to ensure a safe and positive environment for all members of the community.
The City would like to thank the many people who contributed time and energy to this project. In particular, we would like to thank the members of the Youth Park Steering Committee for substantial input into the success of this park.
