Project Benefits
The Pitt River Intertidal Habitat Project will:-
protect 23 acres of wildlife habitat through City ownership,
- create 16.4 acres of new intertidal wetland habitat for fish, birds and other wildlife,
- protect 6.5 acres of wildlife habitat, including two bald eagles’ nests formerly on private property,
- enhance the natural surroundings for recreation users,
- provide educational and bird-watching opportunities for the community,
- address the environmental compensation requirements associated with road construction, including Dominion Avenue and Broadway Street, and
- provide for the enclosure of a number of watercourses on properties located in the Dominion Triangle area (south of Dominion Avenue, east of Ottawa Street and north of Lougheed Highway).
